Amber, Guinevere, and Kate Photographed by Craig Mcdean: 1993-2005 Details

Review "What should strike the reader here is that this epic sleeved volume has much more to say than just the exquisite photos. Amber, Guinevere, and Kate truly enlightens...a very informative and telling section of the book is the series of short interviews with the three models who are the subject of the text. Kate, Guinevere, and Amber are extremely forthcoming about Craig McDean, and in being so candid, they reveal so much about what really goes between a model and a photographer during a photo shoot. The luxurious volume is surely a notable gift to a fan of either of the models or of fashion photography. Rest assured that Amber, Guinevere, and Kate will educate those who are not as informed on any of these subjects as well as for those who only possess the barest amount of fashion acumen." -New York Journal of Books“…amazing book, which includes many previously unpublished images taken by McDean of his three longtime favorite models…Brilliantly showcases how fashion photography can go beyond its original mission and how portraiture can become fashion.” -W Magazine“Crafty lensman Craig McDean offers a palette-cleansing look at the past, when he hovered over negatives and contact sheets instead of glowing, oversized computers. Considering it was achieved via the analog process, the starkness of the images…are all the more captivating.” -V Magazine“This compilation of Craig McDean’s work highlights the moment in fashion when the focus of the photographer’s lens shifted from the supermodels of the eighties to the waiflike girls who helped usher in the era of nineties grunge…includes contact sheets, unpublished photographs, and outtakes from famous shoots.” -Vogue"Amber Guinevere, and Kate highlights the British photographer’s 1993-2005 portfolio of his three favorite models, we saw, for the first time in so long, skin. In the place of the idealized, imagined, and hyper-perfected editorials and campaigns we're used to viewing in magazines, here were a trio of un-retouched, three-dimensional women." -Into the Gloss“A new book tracks the early evolution of a trio of fashion’s most memorable faces…Amber, Guinevere, and Kate serves as a time capsule of McDean’s analog film process before the ubiquity of digital photography, incorporating previously unpublished outtakes and contact sheets of editorial campaigns…” -Interview Magazine"...Thrill any style lover and looks great on the coffee table." -People Style Watch Read more About the Author Craig McDean is a photographer and filmmaker renowned for his fashion imagery and portraiture. I gave this book a 4 because I love Craig McDean's work...I mean I really love his work, however, I am more a fan of his edgy work rather than these beautiful, but not edgy at all photographs. His work with Interview magazine, W, and some foreign magazines I've seen is Uber cool. This book is stunning, and again, the photographs are beautiful...and I do believe McDean is incapable of taking a bad or boring photograph...so there you have it. It's just my preference...Will look out for the punk, Goth, edgy one Craig...cause you are amazing!
