The Hobbit: The Acclaimed Radio 4 Dramatisation (BBC Radio Collection) Details

Review "Anyone who wishes to get an idea of what The Hobbit might be like as one faithful film. . . should seek this out. It might lack the dynamism of the cinematic adaptation, but the world it creates feels more dangerous and real." —Andrew Blair, denofgeek.com"The BBC adaptation is well structured and Paul Daneman is incredibly well cast as Bilbo. If you don't already own this, then now is the perfect time to add this wonderful radio play to your collection." —Nick Smithson, sci-fi-online.com Read more About the Author J. R. R. Reviews

This recording was originally made in the 60s and you can tell by the sound quality. The writer also has Bilbo interrupt the narrator with asides and that is quite distracting and the actors frequently speak very quickly and almost under their breath. We bought this to listen to in the car but between the background noise and hurried speech, it doesn't make for a good listening experience. I usually always prefer British audio performances over American, but in this case, the American audio dramatization is much better.
